Japan PM's son to step down as government secretary amid public criticism

TOKYO, May 29 (Xinhua) — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s son will step down as government secretary to his father on June 1, the federal government mentioned on Monday, amid continued criticism for holding a celebration within the prime minister’s official residence.

Kishida informed reporters that his eldest son Shotaro Kishida would step down as his secretary on Thursday, saying that the change was attributable to “inappropriate” habits on the official residence.

Shotaro Kishida has been underneath hearth after media reviews of holding a year-end social gathering for family on the prime minister’s official residence final December that featured a controversial habits.
