Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has issued a warning in regards to the risks of consuming alcohol and power drinks collectively.

Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has issued a warning in regards to the risks of consuming alcohol and power drinks collectively.

In a message posted on the ministry’s official X (previously Twitter) account, they said: “Do not drink caffeinated beverages with alcohol. This can lead to excessive intake of both caffeine and alcohol.”

The ministry highlighted that caffeine, present in espresso, tea, and power drinks, could cause dizziness and tremors when consumed in extra. They emphasised that mixing power drinks with alcohol can masks the depressant results of alcohol, resulting in unintentional overconsumption.

There have been instances of deadly caffeine overdose from extreme power drink consumption. To handle this, the ministry’s web site gives info on drinks with excessive caffeine content material and tips for secure consumption ranges.
