Akiko Abe’s novel Cafuné, revealed by Kodansha, has been awarded the 2025 Japan Booksellers Award, which honors the e-book booksellers most wish to promote. The announcement was made on April ninth.
At the awards ceremony held in Tokyo, 39-year-old Abe expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’ve received a great gift. I want to become a novelist who can write truly good stories.”
The novel follows the journey of protagonist Kaoruko, who regains her power in life by means of her work involving meals and house responsibilities companies. The e-book additionally offers sensitively with themes comparable to infertility remedy and single-parent households.
