Six years in the past, a 39-year-old Nepalese man who died after being arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department and being interrogated by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office was stated to have been bodily restrained by police and prosecutors in an inappropriate method. The Tokyo District Court acknowledged that there was negligence within the response of the individual in command of the Metropolitan Police Department, and ordered town to pay compensation of about 1 million yen.
The ruling stated, “After eradicating the restraining instruments, the person did not obtain applicable remedy regardless that there was an abnormality in his physique.”
