NAHA, Apr 30 (News On Japan) –
The Naha District Public Prosecutors Office has indicted a 27-year-old U.S. Marine on prices of non-consensual sexual activity and assault after he allegedly attacked a girl inside a bathroom cubicle at a U.S. navy base in Okinawa.
According to the indictment, Private First Class Austin Weddington is accused of forcibly restraining a feminine base worker by strangling her and sexually assaulting her. He can be alleged to have stomped on the face of one other girl who tried to intervene, inflicting her accidents.
The case has drawn renewed scrutiny over the conduct of U.S. navy personnel stationed in Japan and the security of native employees inside base services.
