Boris Johnson has agreed to deepen defence and commerce hyperlinks with Japan following diplomatic talks with the nation’s premier in Downing Street.

The Prime Minister welcomed Fumio Kishida to Number 10 on the Japanese chief’s first go to to London since taking workplace. They agreed a reciprocal entry settlement that may result in shut navy cooperation together with joint workouts within the Indo-Pacific area.

Mr Johnson mentioned allies in Europe and east Asia needed to be unified within the face of “autocratic, coercive powers”.

He added: “We within the UK recognise that our safety in Europe is indivisible from the safety, our collective safety, within the Asia-Pacific, within the Indo-Pacific area.

Mr Kishida’s go to was marked with a guard of honour and an RAF flypast over Horse Guards Parade in central London.

Before holding talks in No 10 on Thursday, the 2 leaders stood on a dais as they witnessed a Voyager and two Typhoon fighter jets soar over St James’ Park and the parade floor.
