In a lawsuit filed by Kyoto University in search of the eviction of scholars residing in a part of the Yoshida Dormitory, thought of the oldest scholar dormitory in Japan, the scholars have achieved a partial victory.
The college had been in search of the handover of the “current building” of the Yoshida Dormitory, in-built 1913, citing its dilapidation. However, some college students had not complied, main the college to file a lawsuit.
In the decision on the sixteenth, the Kyoto District Court dominated in favor of 14 of the 17 college students dwelling within the dormitory, permitting them to proceed residing there. However, the courtroom ordered the three college students who moved in after the college introduced it could not settle for new residents to vacate the constructing.
A resident of the dormitory acknowledged, “We hope for a development where we can discuss the future of Yoshida Dormitory and reach a consensus.”
The three college students whose residency was not acknowledged plan to attraction the choice.
