Lawyers probe adoptions organized by former Unification Church

TOKYO, Nov 16 (NHK) –
NHK has discovered that attorneys in Japan have begun investigating adoptions organized by the spiritual group previously generally known as the Unification Church.

Some kids of group members say such adoptions are carried out primarily based on their mother and father’ beliefs.

They’ve consulted attorneys who help them concerning the matter. Some specialists say the adoptions could also be legally problematic.

The group teaches that having and elevating many kids is necessary, and releases movies and publications that say households with kids have an obligation to share that “blessing” with childless ones.

Lawyer Abe Katsuomi, who started the probe, says the group’s actions may go in opposition to the aim of the adoption system — offering an atmosphere to make sure kids’s wellbeing.

Abe suggests the group goals solely to unfold its beliefs, regardless of what’s finest for kids.
