At the 56th Miss Japan Contest 2024 held on Monday in Tokyo, mannequin Carolina Shiino, 26, born in Ukraine and raised in Nagoya, was declared the grand prize winner.
Born in Ternopil, Ukraine, to Ukrainian dad and mom, Shiino expressed her overwhelming gratitude and pleasure. “It’s like a dream. There have been racial barriers, and it has been challenging to be accepted as Japanese. Being recognized as a Japanese in this competition fills me with gratitude,” she mentioned, tearfully. Shiino moved to Japan on the age of 5 and purchased Japanese nationality in 2022.
