U.S. dollar slips as euro, sterling rise

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday amid a momentum in the euro and the British pound.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.12 percent to 106.2810.

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0394 U.S. dollars from 1.0365 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.1913 U.S. dollars from 1.1873 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 139.34 Japanese yen, higher than 139.13 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9441 Swiss francs from 0.9424 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3329 Canadian dollars from 1.3285 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.4822 Swedish Kronor from 10.4530 Swedish Kronor.
