Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested two males, together with an government of a meat distribution firm, on suspicion of violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act by promoting imported hen falsely labeled as domestically produced to a college lunch middle. The suspects, together with Kenzo Namiki, allegedly bought low-cost international hen to the Fuchu City public college lunch middle in 2023, falsely labeling it as poultry from Miyazaki Prefecture.
Investigators imagine that since 2021, the group delivered roughly 42,500 kilograms of such mislabeled hen and carried out transactions value about 48 million yen. The police are persevering with to research the complete extent of the operation and the potential influence on meals security and public belief.
