Thai Woman Arrested for Defrauding Over 73 Japanese of 100 Million Yen

BANGKOK, Aug 05 (News On Japan) –
A suspect in Thailand has been arrested for allegedly focusing on and defrauding 73 Japanese nationals, amassing over 100 million yen.

Uthai Nantakan, a Thai nationwide, was arrested on suspicion of defrauding Japanese males of greater than 10 million yen. Posing as somebody who had misplaced her pockets and passport, she sought help from Japanese males, requesting cash below the pretense of medical bills.

Additionally, she solicited giant sums for supposed enterprise investments.

Uthai has a historical past of focusing on Japanese vacationers in related scams for the previous decade, with 73 Japanese victims and whole damages exceeding 100 million yen.

Uthai: “I intended to live solely on money from Japanese people.”

Uthai defined that her actions had been motivated by a want for revenge towards Japanese males as a consequence of a previous romantic relationship that led to deceit and hassle.
