“I have had several meetings with the mayor of Madrid talking about this issue and Madrid, without a doubt, is a city that should try to host the Olympic Games, but it will not opt for the 2036 Games,” stated Blanco.

He stated there might be the prospect of a Spanish bid “for winter” Games, however highlighted that “the Paris Games (2024), Los Angeles (2028) and Brisbane (2032) have already been given and the recommendation that they (the International Olympic Committee) gave is for Madrid not to make a bid for 2036.”
