The presidential election of Paraguay, the one nation in South America that has diplomatic relations with Taiwan, started counting votes on the morning of the first of Japan time.
An in depth battle is predicted between the ruling occasion candidate, who insists on sustaining diplomatic relations with Taiwan, and the opposition candidate, who suggests the opportunity of severing diplomatic ties with Taiwan and establishing diplomatic relations with China.
