Kawasaki Heavy Delivers Japan’s Largest Submarine

A supply ceremony was held for the ‘Raigei,’ considered one of Japan’s largest submarines, constructed at a value of roughly 702 billion yen.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries handed over the vessel to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The submarine measures roughly 84 meters in size and has a displacement of three,000 tons. Construction started in March 2021, and it’s geared up with a propulsion system that mixes a diesel engine and lithium-ion batteries.

A parliamentary vice minister of protection expressed expectations for the submarine’s position on the entrance traces of nationwide protection. The ‘Raigei’ has been assigned to the JMSDF’s First Submarine Squadron underneath the Kure District Headquarters in Hiroshima Prefecture, the place will probably be engaged in maritime safety operations.
