TOKYO, Feb 19 (News On Japan) –
Japan’s Justice Ministry has introduced that beginning in May, it is going to amend rules to permit regional names to be listed within the nationality discipline of household registers when Japanese residents marry overseas nationals.
Previously, solely nation names have been permitted, that means that people from Taiwan have been recorded as being from ‘China.’ The revised regulation will now enable ‘Taiwan’ to be specified as a regional designation. This change aligns with comparable practices in residence playing cards and certificates of residence, aiming to respect the identification of these from Taiwan.
