Japan posts US$24.43 billion present account surplus in May

TOKYO, eighth July, 2026 (WAM) — Japan posted a present account surplus of three.968 trillion yen (US$24.43 billion) in May, in response to preliminary knowledge launched by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.

Exports rose 14.7 % year-on-year to 9.360 trillion yen, whereas imports elevated 8.1 % to 9.353 trillion yen. Japan’s items commerce stability recorded a surplus of 6.9 billion yen in the course of the month.

The capital account noticed a deficit of 15.5 billion yen, whereas the monetary account had a surplus of 5.086 trillion yen.
