Hitachi and Intel Announce Strategic Collaboration on Physical AI and Advanced Computing – Japan Industry News

Hitachi, Ltd. and Intel Corporation have introduced a strategic collaboration geared toward advancing bodily AI, superior computing, and next-generation digital infrastructure throughout varied industries, together with manufacturing, power, and mobility.

The partnership will leverage Hitachi’s experience in info know-how (IT) and operational know-how (OT) alongside Intel’s superior computing capabilities and silicon-based platforms. The purpose is to develop next-generation computing capabilities and trade options that improve operational effectivity and construct extra clever, resilient infrastructure programs.

The corporations plan to give attention to 5 strategic pillars: foundry instruments, quantum computing, power optimization, customized silicon and edge-AI functions, and manufacturing facility automation. In the realm of foundry instruments, Hitachi will make the most of high-precision information from its metrology programs and electron microscopes on the ExTOPE platform to allow predictive diagnostics and upkeep optimization in semiconductor manufacturing.

For quantum computing, the collaboration goals to strengthen co-development between Hitachi and Intel’s R&D groups, accelerating developments in quantum applied sciences. The partnership may also give attention to power optimization, with Hitachi deploying its HMAX Energy inside Intel’s services to handle core energy tools, whereas Intel plans to provide high-voltage silicon chips to reinforce Hitachi’s energy programs.

Additionally, the businesses are exploring alternatives in customized silicon, edge-AI functions, and manufacturing facility automation, leveraging their respective cutting-edge applied sciences. This collaboration builds on over 40 years of belief between the 2 corporations.

Hitachi President & CEO Toshiaki Tokunaga expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting its potential to speed up AI transformation throughout industries supporting social infrastructure. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan highlighted the transformative potential of bodily AI in industrial functions, emphasizing the distinctive positioning of the partnership to seize alternatives at an industrial scale.
