ATHENS, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) — Greek Olympic medalist Stefanos Ntouskos would be the first torchbearer for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) stated throughout a press convention on Wednesday in Athens.
The athlete who gained the gold in rowing within the 2020 Tokyo Games will begin the torch relay on April 16, whereas the Olympic flame lighting ceremony will happen that day at historic Olympia, in western Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
The final torchbearer on Greek soil will likely be Giannis Fountoulis, the captain of Greece’s males’s nationwide water polo crew, who took silver at Tokyo 2020.
