Set within the aftermath of the Russo-Japanese War, Golden Kamuy follows Saichi Sugimoto, a battle-hardened veteran generally known as “Immortal Sugimoto,” who seeks a hidden fortune in stolen Ainu gold to meet a promise made to a fallen comrade.
In the tough wilderness of Hokkaido, he groups up with Asirpa, a younger Ainu lady whose data of the land and tradition is essential to surviving the brutal search. Together, they face rival treasure hunters, troopers, and lethal tattooed convicts, every with their very own motives, in a determined race for survival and discovery.
