Fukushima Decontaminated Soil Reused in Government Office Flower Beds

TOKYO, Sep 15 (News On Japan) –
An initiative to reuse soil generated throughout decontamination work in Fukushima Prefecture after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident has began at central authorities ministries in Kasumigaseki, Tokyo.

On September 14th, soil was delivered to a flower mattress on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, the soil will likely be laid to a thickness of about 55 centimeters after which lined with round 20 centimeters of normal soil to stop scattering or runoff. By introducing its use in authorities services, the ministry hopes to encourage broader public understanding and acceptance of reusing decontaminated soil.
