Environment Minister Calls for Restraint on Mega-Solar Project

HOKKAIDO, Sep 22 (News On Japan) –
Environment Minister Keiichiro Asao has expressed his view that building of large-scale photo voltaic panel tasks within the Kushiro Wetlands of Hokkaido ought to be restrained.

Asao said, “Solar power developments that cannot coexist with local communities should be curbed.”

The minister indicated that authorities ministries will collectively contemplate responses to the continued mega-solar growth close to the Kushiro National Park.

After assembly Asao, Kushiro Mayor Hidenori Tsuruma additionally commented: “There are areas designated for solar promotion, but the current system does not allow zoning for restricted areas. I am grateful that a liaison council has been established.”
