Chinese navy vessel returns from abroad voyage

SHENYANG, June 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese navy vessel “Qijiguang” returned to the port metropolis of Dalian in northeast China’s Liaoning Province Saturday after a 41-day coaching voyage.

The vessel, with 476 navy cadets and officers on board, has sailed greater than 8,500 nautical miles because it set off on May 15 and visited Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines, based on the navy sources.

Besides ending a sequence of coaching applications, the vessel held joint workouts with navy vessels from Vietnam, Brunei, and the Philippines, and acquired greater than 6,000 guests in the course of the voyage, the sources stated.

The “Qijiguang” is a naval coaching ship named after Qi Jiguang, a Chinese hero greatest identified for main Ming forces to defend China’s japanese coastal areas from raids by Japanese pirates within the sixteenth century.
