HANGZHOU, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese paddlers booked the 2 ultimate spots of combined doubles on Friday to safe the title within the desk tennis event on the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Top seeded combined pair Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha knocked down Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin from South Korea 4-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-8, 11-8) within the semifinals, whereas Lin Gaoyuan and Wang Yidi booked the opposite ultimate spot by beating one other South Korean pair Jang Woo-jin and Jeon Ji-hee 4-1 (11-9, 11-4, 8-11, 11-6, 11-7).

In the lads’s singles spherical of 16, Chinese paddlers Fan Zhendong and Wang Chuqin, the highest two seeds on the occasion, smashed their opponents 3-0 respectively to enter the quarterfinals, and Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto superior to the quarterfinals after beating Iranian “Backhand Man” Noshad Alamiyan Darounkolaei 4-2 (11-9, 12-10, 11-8, 5-11, 10-12, 12-10).
In the ladies’s singles spherical of 16, Pyon Song Gyong from DPR Korea defeated sixth seed Miu Hirano of Japan 4-2 (11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 4-11, 11-5, 11-8), and can meet world No.1 Sun Yingsha in quarterfinals.
South Korean pair An Jae-hyun and Park Gang-hyeon, seeded third within the occasion, have been defeated by Japan’s Taisei Matsushita and Mizuki Oikawa 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-8) within the males’s doubles spherical of 16.
