CANBERRA, June 30 (Xinhua) — NBA All-Star Ben Simmons won’t play for Australia on the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

In a press release posted on social media on Friday, Basketball Australia (BA) introduced that Simmons, 26, is unavailable for the upcoming match as he continues to get well from again damage.

“Ben Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets have advised Basketball Australia that Ben is unavailable for the World Cup,” BA stated.

“Ben needs more time to focus on his rehab and he looks forward to being part of the Boomers in the future. We wish Ben all the best in his recovery.”
