Police determine man suspected in Tokyo subway acid assault

Police put a 25-year-old man on a nationwide wished listing Friday in reference to an acid assault at a Tokyo subway station that left two individuals injured earlier this week.

Tokyo police obtained an arrest warrant for Hirotaka Hanamori on suspicion of throwing what’s believed to be sulfuric acid at a 22-year-old man at Tokyo Metro Co.’s Shirokane Takanawa Station within the capital’s Minato Ward on Tuesday evening.

The man sustained severe accidents to his face and eyes, which would require roughly six months to heal, whereas a girl suffered burns on her legs, in line with the police.

Hanamori, who’s from the town of Shizuoka, allegedly threw the acid on the man as he overtook him at an elevator shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. The lady acquired burns after slipping on the liquid on the ground and falling into it, police have mentioned.

Hanamori fled the station after the assault.
