Three drones have been noticed flying over the premises of Kyushu Electric Power’s Genkai Nuclear Power Plant in Saga Prefecture, prompting an alert to Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) on the evening of July twenty sixth.
According to the NRA, the flight was detected round 9 p.m., with three drones noticed flying above the Genkai facility. Authorities issued a notification underneath the class of “nuclear material protection information with potential to affect the operation of nuclear facilities.”
The drones had already left the realm by the point of the report, and as of midnight on July twenty seventh, no abnormalities had been discovered on the plant. There have been no indicators that the drones prompted any injury or interfered with the power’s gear.
The origin and objective of the drone flight stay unknown. Kyushu Electric is working with the Saga Prefectural Police to assemble additional data.
