Brunei information 41.2 pct complete commerce drop in May

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — Brunei recorded 1,745.8 million Brunei {dollars} (1290.1 million U.S. {dollars}) complete commerce in May 2023, a 41.2 % year-on-year lower as a result of a drop in each export and import worth.

The newest International Merchandise Trade Statistics launched on Sunday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics on the Ministry of Finance and Economy confirmed that Brunei’s exports in May decreased by 42.3 % yearly to 1,078.5 million Brunei {dollars}, which was primarily as a result of a drop in exports of mineral fuels and chemical substances.

Imports decreased by 39.2 % to 667.3 million Brunei {dollars} in May 2023.

The highest share of exports in May went to China (22.7 %), adopted by Australia (20.6 %), Singapore (15.1 %) and Japan (14.8 %).

The greatest import associate was the United Arab Emirates accounting for 21.6 %, adopted by China (16.9 %), Qatar (16.8 %), and Malaysia (16.3 %). (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.74 U.S. {dollars})
