NEW DELHI, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) — At least 4 employees died and one was injured following a fireplace inside a metal plant in India’s western state of Gujarat late on Tuesday, native police stated on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel plant in Hazira industrial space within the state’s Surat district.
In a press release, the metal plant’s spokesperson stated the incident passed off on account of “equipment failure.”
“We have learned that the fire spread in one section of the plant after burning coal suddenly spilled over. The resultant blaze killed four laborers who were on a lift at that time in the plant,” stated Surat Commissioner of Police Anupam Singh Gehlot.
