Zoo apologizes for escaped chimpanzee

The Director of Tennoji Zoo, one in every of Japan’s oldest zoos opened in Osaka in 1915, has apologized for a chimpanzee that escaped on Tuesday by a niche within the wall, admitting {that a} design flaw was at fault.

The feminine chimpanzee managed to squeeze by a 20 cm hole positioned between the metal body and wall of an animal passage. Visitors had been evacuated from the zoo, which briefly closed, and the chimpanzee was captured 3 hours later.
