In Tokyo, an Indian grocery retailer is drawing consideration for its distinctive indicators that, at first look, seem like in Hindi. Upon nearer inspection, these indicators are literally written in Japanese.
Phrases like “いらっしゃいませ” (Welcome) and “こちらはそさあります” (You’ll discover it right here), mix the model of Hindi script with Japanese writing.
This distinctive script fusion may initially confuse guests into pondering they’re Hindi. However, these are certainly Japanese phrases, crafted by the shop’s Japanese workers. They have designed the indicators to suit the shop’s ambiance, taking inspiration from the packaging of the merchandise bought.
