TOKYO, third August, 2026 (WAM) — The US dollar weakened sharply Monday towards the Japanese yen after US President Donald Trump and Japan’s finance minister confirmed either side had intervened in markets.
Early Monday, after the official announcement of the intervention, the dollar dropped about 1 % to 156.34 yen. That’s a giant change for the trade charge.
Before late final week, the dollar was buying and selling above 163 yen, touching 40-year highs
