The Ukrainian authorities has labeled US tobacco big Philip Morris and one other main cigarette maker, Japan Tobacco, “international sponsors of war” owing to their continued operations in Russia, the Ukrainian National Corruption Prevention Agency (NCPA) introduced on Thursday.
Phillip Morris has two factories in Russia’s Leningrad and Krasnodar areas. The market share of the corporate’s emblems within the nation was 30.1% in 2019. Currently, Philip Morris’ complete funding in Russia exceeds $2 billion.
“Having confidence in the economic potential of Russia, the company is implementing a large-scale long-term investment program,” NCPA declared.
Japan Tobacco has a 34.9% share of the Russian market and is the most important investor and a number one taxpayer within the nation’s tobacco business, in response to Ukraine’s anti-corruption company.
Although representatives of the corporate pledged to droop new investments and advertising exercise in Russia, Japan Tobacco continues manufacturing and gross sales within the nation, the NCPA claims.
