KAMPALA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) — Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo instructed Xinhua on Wednesday that he’ll make his first marathon try within the London Marathon 2025 to be held in April.
“I am preparing well because I’m looking forward to making my first appearance in a marathon,” mentioned Kiplimo. “I am taking the schedules designed for me by the coach with full forecast. It is a tough one, but I have to complete it knowing that the marathon I am going for is not easy.”
Kiplimo, who received a bronze within the 10,000m on the Tokyo Olympics, noticed the London Marathon as a possibility to compete with one of the best runners like Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge and Sabastian Sawe.
Kiplimo’s coach Peter Chelangat made it clear that Kiplimo is doing nicely in coaching. “We are building his endurance for the 42-kilometer race through intense training and competing in various stages leading up to the event,” Chelangat mentioned.
President of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), Dominic Otuchet mentioned that he’s very optimistic about Kiplimo’s efficiency, “Marathon is challenging, but with what I know with our long distance athletes, they have what it takes and all shall be well.”
