U.S. teen Ashlyn Krueger reaches 1st tour closing at Osaka

Ashlyn Krueger dispatched the host nation’s Mai Hontama in straight units on Saturday to advance to her first WTA closing on the Japan Open in Osaka.

Krueger, a 19-year-old Dallas resident ranked No. 123 on the earth, defeated Hontama 6-3, 6-3 in a single hour and 38 minutes of their first assembly on the tour.

Krueger, who has but to drop a set within the event, had the benefit in aces, 5-0. She pushed Hontama to 13 break factors and transformed 5 of them.

In an all-Chinese semifinal, prime seed Lin Zhu gained a battle with third seed Xinyu Wang 7-5, 7-6 (6) in 124 minutes. Zhu transformed 4 of six break factors, whereas Wang managed three of 9.

Zhu goes for her second profession WTA Tour title. Krueger is in her eleventh main-draw look on the tour.
