TOKYO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — Japan’s climate company on Thursday forecast Typhoon Lan to strategy the nation’s Ogasawara Islands within the Pacific on Friday, warning of fierce winds and heavy rain.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) mentioned that as of seven:00 p.m. on Thursday, Typhoon Lan was transferring northwest at a pace of 15 km per hour over waters 170 km southeast of Chichijima Island.
The storm is predicted to go north and are available closest to the Ogasawara Islands on Friday because it continues to develop, whereas heavy rain is forecast for the Ogasawara Islands from late Thursday night time by Saturday, mentioned the JMA.
Up to 250 millimeters of rain could drench some areas of the islands within the 24 hours by late Friday afternoon, and as much as 200 millimeters within the subsequent 24 hours, it added.
The storm is predicted to maneuver northwest over the Pacific and will strategy Japan’s predominant island of Honshu subsequent Tuesday with out shedding its energy. Eastern and western Japan could also be hit by stormy climate from Monday, in line with the company.
