Three Students Arrested for Hacking Rakuten Mobile Using ChatGPT

TOKYO, Feb 28 (News On Japan) –
Three teenage college students have been arrested for illegally accessing Rakuten Mobile’s system utilizing a self-developed program created with the assistance of generative AI. They allegedly used this system to fraudulently receive cellular contracts.

The suspects, three boys starting from third-year junior excessive to first-year highschool college students, are accused of illegally logging into Rakuten Mobile buyer accounts to contract communication traces.

The trio met by on-line gaming and bought roughly 3.3 billion stolen IDs and passwords by way of a communication app. Using generative AI, particularly ChatGPT, they developed a program to repeatedly entry accounts, finally securing round 1,500 cellular contracts.
