In 2019, the Japanese authorities took measures to tighten export controls for semiconductor uncooked supplies to South Korea, in addition to the ruling ordering Japanese firms to compensate in a lawsuit over “requisition” through the Pacific War. Regarding the lawsuit towards the WTO = World Trade Organization, he stated, “We have decided to suspend the dispute settlement procedure while consultations with Japan are being held.”
