TOKYO, Jan 20 (News On Japan) –
Japan’s lunar exploration spacecraft “SLIM” has achieved a historic feat by efficiently touchdown on the Moon early Saturday morning.
The “SLIM” spacecraft started its descent to the Moon from lunar orbit round 12:00 AM as we speak, efficiently touchdown on the lunar floor roughly 20 minutes later, as introduced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
This profitable touchdown represents a primary for Japan, a major achievement within the subject of house exploration.
JAXA President Mr. Hiroshi Yamakawa expressed his pleasure: “First of all, the fact that we have landed is a starting point. From here, we aim to further develop our country’s technology, opening the way to access the Moon’s surface.”
However, there are considerations that the batteries might run out inside a couple of hours as a result of photo voltaic cells not producing energy.
Priority is being given to the reception and acquisition of information from the touchdown, and evaluation is underway to find out if the spacecraft achieved its focused touchdown inside a 100-meter margin of error.
