TOKYO, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — The wealthy and vibrant historical past of the traditional Silk Road has come to life right here in Tokyo as an exhibition that includes a blinding array of Chinese cultural treasures has opened its doorways to the Japanese public.
Commemorating the forty fifth anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, the Great Silk Road World Heritage Exhibition has opened on the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum in Tokyo.
In 2014, a joint utility by China, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan led to the popularity of “the Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang’an-Tianshan Corridor” as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The exhibition, which opened Friday, options 237 units of Silk Road artifacts fastidiously chosen from 27 main museums and institutes throughout China.
Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao, when talking on the opening ceremony, expressed his hope that this exhibition would contribute to a greater understanding among the many Japanese individuals of the historic origins and cultural significance of the Silk Road, fostering goodwill and mutual understanding between the 2 nations.

The exhibition, which can run in Tokyo till Dec. 10, is scheduled to tour Fukuoka, Miyagi, Ehime, Okayama, and Kyoto from January 2024 to February 2025.
