JR West has unveiled a brand new blue-based design for Kodama trains on the Sanyo Shinkansen, supposed to evoke the relaxed tempo of an all-stations journey and the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea.
The redesigned exterior makes use of subdued shades of blue to offer the Kodama a extra distinctive look. JR West stated the change can also be aimed toward stopping passengers from mistakenly boarding different Shinkansen companies, together with the sooner Nozomi and Hikari trains.

The newly designed trains will function between Shin-Osaka and Hakata stations and are scheduled to be launched progressively from December.
