BELGRADE, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) — Serbia certified for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup after defeating Britain 101-83 on Monday in Belgrade.
By defeating the friends on the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, the Serbian group secured third place in Group I, behind Latvia and Greece to qualify for the ultimate part of the FIBA World Cup.
Team Serbia, which ranked ninth on the not too long ago held Eurobasket, dominated with an excellent 63.6% discipline aim proportion (50% behind the arc).
The dwelling group was spearheaded by Aleksa Avramovic who scored 20 factors, adopted by Luka Mitrovic’s 15, Ognjen Dobric’s 14, whereas Marko Guduric added 13 and dished six assists.
Britain ended within the final place within the group after the match, as Quinn Ellis took 22 factors and Carl Wheatle scored 16.
After a good defeat within the earlier spherical in Greece, Serbia wanted victory within the final spherical with a purpose to safe their qualification.
Besides Britain, which gained just one out of 9 matches within the group stage, Belgium and Türkiye may also miss the 2023 FIBA World Cup to be co-hosted this summer season by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
