HIROSHIMA, Jan 24 (News On Japan) –
As winter’s delicacies beckon, many are flocking to Hiroshima City’s oyster huts. At Kusatsu Port in Hiroshima, 5 oyster companies collaborate yearly from winter to spring to supply freshly harvested oysters at reasonably priced costs of their collectively operated huts.
According to the Kusatsu Oyster Association, final summer season’s extreme warmth brought about an increase in sea temperatures, which delayed the oysters’ development, pushing again this season’s opening by about two weeks in comparison with the earlier 12 months. However, since final month, the cooler water temperatures have firmed up the oysters, permitting patrons to benefit from the large-sized oysters.
On busy days, the huts see over 300 guests. On this specific day, a crowd loved the freshly grilled, plump oysters, seasoning them with soy sauce or ponzu. A girl in her fifties from Hiroshima City commented, “They have a wonderful aroma, are very juicy, and the flavor is rich and delicious.” Another girl in her sixties talked about, “Being able to grill them right in front of you and eat them fresh enhances their deliciousness.”
The oyster huts function in keeping with the oyster harvesting season and will likely be open for enjoyment till the top of April this season.
