Russia asks Pink Floyd's Roger Waters to talk on Ukraine arms at U.N.

Russia has requested Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters to talk to the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday at a gathering that Moscow requested to debate the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

“Russian diplomacy used to be serious. What next? Mr. Bean?” stated a U.N. Security Council diplomat, talking on situation of anonymity.

Waters was criticized by supporters of Ukraine when he printed an open letter on his web site in September to Ukrainian first girl Olena Zelenska. He argued in opposition to the Western provide of weapons to Kyiv.

“Let’s see what he will say. He has a position and you will hear it tomorrow,” stated Russian U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia, jokingly including: “Perhaps he will sing to us, too.”

The 15-member Security Council has met dozens of occasions since Russia invaded neighboring Ukraine final Feb. 24. But it’s unable to take any motion as a result of Russia is a veto energy, together with the United States, China, Britain and France.
