In Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, a tour of ‘launch cormorant fishing’ was held to catch fish with out attaching a rope to the ocean cormorants raised by synthetic hatching.
A sixth grade boy from Kyoto who visited along with his household stated, “The cormorant fishermen were really cool. I thought that the relationship of trust between cormorant fishermen and cormorant cormorants is important in free-range cormorant fishing.”
Mariko Sawaki, a cormorant fisher, stated, “I think the condition of the Utti was good. I think one of the things that makes it interesting is being able to see the moment of catching fish up close.”
