Real wages in Japan down for twelfth month in March

Real wages in Japan have fallen 12 months over 12 months for the twelfth straight month, as rising shopper costs continued to eat into employees’ earnings.

Preliminary figures from the labor ministry present that wages have been down 2.9 p.c in March from a 12 months earlier after being adjusted for inflation.

Workers earned a median of 291,081 yen, or about 2,160 {dollars}, together with extra time. That’s up 0.8 p.c in yen phrases from the identical time in 2022.

But the features have been canceled out by surging inflation.
