Princess Aiko, the eldest daughter of the Emperor and Empress, attended a nationwide catastrophe prevention convention whereas accompanying her mother and father on their go to to Niigata Prefecture.
Arriving on the venue in Niigata City shortly after 10 a.m. on September seventh, Aiko greeted organizers with a smile, saying “Thank you very much.” The annual Bosai Kokutai (National Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction) is held to share classes from disasters and move that information on to youthful generations.
At the session, displays have been made on the actions of the Disaster Welfare Assistance Team (DWAT), which had been dispatched to Suzu City within the Noto Peninsula, one of many hardest-hit areas within the latest earthquake.
Aiko, who works on the Japanese Red Cross Society and is concerned in coaching younger volunteers, listened attentively whereas taking detailed notes. In the afternoon, she was scheduled to listen to stories from volunteers who supported evacuees with pets within the Noto catastrophe space.
