Police Raid Kyoto University Dormitory Following Student Protest

KYOTO, Feb 10 (News On Japan) –
Six Kyoto University college students have been arrested for storming the college’s primary administration constructing throughout a 2022 dormitory competition with about 250 others, disrupting operations with loudspeakers, main police to conduct a search of Kumano Dormitory on Sunday.

The six people, believed to be scholar activists linked to the Chūkaku-ha (Central Core Faction), have been detained on suspicion of forcible obstruction of enterprise.

According to police, in December 2022, the six college students took half in a protest occasion known as “Storming the President’s Office” throughout a competition at Kumano Dormitory. Along with roughly 250 different college students, they entered the college’s headquarters, utilizing loudspeakers to intimidate employees and disrupt operations.

On the afternoon of February ninth, police carried out a search of Kumano Dormitory. The arrested people have reportedly remained silent throughout questioning.
