North Korea’s military launched an unspecified ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan — known as the East Sea in South Korea — on Thursday, early Friday morning already in Pyongyang, South Korean military sources said.
This has been confirmed by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, although it did not elaborate on further details, as reported by the South Korean news agency Yonhap. Japanese media report that the launch took place at around 2:00 a.m. (local time) and that both Seoul and the United States are already gathering information on what happened.
This launch took place just one day after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un himself supervised the deployment of two long-range ballistic missiles, which flew over the waters of the Sea of Japan to finally hit the target, 2,000 kilometers away, according to the North Korean agency KCNA.
