At the Nara Prefectural Museum of Art, basic admission charges are set at 400 yen for everlasting exhibitions and 1,200 yen for particular exhibitions. However, overseas vacationers and long-term guests from overseas at present take pleasure in free admission to each.
According to the prefecture, the free admission coverage for overseas guests was initiated in 2008 to spice up tourism. It is at present carried out at 4 prefectural services, together with the Folk Museum in Yamatokoriyama City.
Amid voices on social media calling the coverage “discriminatory against Japanese people,” Japanese vacationers visiting Nara additionally expressed their considerations:

On March eighth, Governor Masaharu Yamashita addressed the problem, stating: “It’s a system that is hard to understand.”
He indicated that the coverage of free admission for overseas vacationers can be discontinued beginning April.
